INDIANAPOLIS (June 13, 2017) – Indianapolis Ballet will host open auditions on Sunday, July 9, for elite-level dancers from across the country looking to join the newly-created professional company. The Indianapolis Ballet is planning its debut season for early 2018.

Indianapolis Ballet is seeking classically trained male and female dancers with at least three years of professional experience to join the Company.

The July 9 auditions, to be held at the Indianapolis School of Ballet studios in downtown Indianapolis at 502 N. Capitol Avenue, Suite B. Auditions will be conducted for the following categories:

Professional Level Program and Apprentice Positions – 12:00-2:00 p.m.

Company Positions – 2:30-6:30 p.m.
The Company audition will consist of a full ballet class and repertoire.

“This is a very exciting time for Indianapolis and the ballet community with the upcoming auditions,” said Victoria Lyras, founding Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Ballet. “I am delighted to share my passion for classical ballet and the legacy of George Balanchine. Experience in the Balanchine technique for audition hopefuls will certainly be a plus when we welcome them to Indianapolis next month.”

Indianapolis Ballet will make its on-stage debut in early 2018. A full 2017-18 performance schedule for both the Indianapolis Ballet and the Indianapolis School of Ballet will be announced in the coming weeks.

The creation of Indianapolis Ballet is part of the long-term strategy of the Indianapolis School of Ballet, recognized as the premier destination for classical ballet training, main-stage performances and community outreach in Indianapolis since its founding in 2006. With this vision in place, Indianapolis Ballet company members will perform main-stage productions with support from additional dancers from the School’s professional track.  The financial strategy for the Indianapolis Ballet will leverage shared resources from School faculty, facility and staff.

The recently-launched Moving Forward Capital Campaign continues to raise funds that will be reserved solely for the creation of Indianapolis Ballet, the first professional ballet company to be headquartered in Indianapolis in over a decade.
