Give Indy Ballet

The Vision Becomes Reality

Since the school’s inception, the vision has been to launch a professional ballet company on top of the solid foundation of a successful school. We have been mindful and strategic in our progress, with strong board involvement, consistent growth, diligent financial oversight, and a history of healthy financial footing.

Dalton Cole and Associates was enlisted to create a comprehensive Business Plan for the launch of a professional ballet company, the Indianapolis Ballet.

“There are donors who will be specifically interested in seeing a high-caliber ballet company exist and thrive in Indianapolis.”

–David Hochoy, Artistic Director, Dance Kaleidoscope

Community Need

Indianapolis Ballet will complete the cultural landscape of Central Indiana.

It will also create opportunities for ballet dancers to pursue their career without leaving the state. There are more than a dozen ISB dancers who are currently with an out-of-state professional company or accepted by a renowned collegiate ballet program. The top three higher education ballet programs in the country are Julliard, Indiana University, and Butler University. Indiana has two of the top three ballet programs and currently offers no professional opportunity after these dancers graduate.

There is evidence of a strong relationship between the Arts in Indianapolis and economic growth. Indianapolis Arts Council reports that from the $1.3 million allocated to the arts in Indianapolis, $384 million is generated in economic activity. Nearly a 300% return on investment. In addition, nonprofit art programs serve more than 1.6 million children, students and senior citizens each year – improving quality of life for the community.

Capital Campaign

The MOVING FORWARD Capital Campaign’s goal is to raise a minimum of $1 million to establish the company and secure additional funding commitments for consecutive years.

Our financial strategy for the Indianapolis Ballet company leverages shared resources with the school – faculty, facilities and staff.

We also have 100% board support accounting for an additional $50 thousand for a total of $300 thousand already reserved towards our goal. Our goal is the secure the additional $700 thousand minimum with a contribution of individual donations and institutional funding and grants.
