attendance
Classes missed due to short-term illness, injury or vacation can and should be made up by taking extra classes at the student’s own or lower level, or a higher level with the permission of the Artistic Director.
regulation dance attire
All students must furnish their own dance clothing and shoes; ISB faculty will advise the students about required attire and suggest where it may be purchased.
No jewelry, elaborate hair accessories, or loose fitting warm-up clothing may be worn in class. NO halter tops.
Hair for girls and women should be worn in a bun or similar style; short hair should be secured with a band, away from the face.
Hair for boys and men should be neatly combed back, off the face and secured.
Withdrawal Policy
Students on the installment plan who voluntarily withdraw before the conclusion of the semester are responsible for paying the remainder of the semester’s tuition at the time of withdrawal. Students who wish to withdraw during or at the end of the first semester must provide notice in writing prior to December 15, 2009 to avoid being charged second semester tuition.
class observation
Indianapolis School of Ballet classes are open to observation by family and friends for at least one session/class each semester. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have achieved in class, and family members can observe students' progress. For upper level students, these informal class observation sessions are replaced by "open house" days and formal performances. These observation classes and "open house" days are also used to pass along important information to family members about upcoming ISB events and performances.
The schedule for observation classes varies and is announced by individual instructors. If you have questions regarding these classes, please speak to your child's instructor, inquire at the office, or email ISB – school@indyballet.org
changes and/or cancelations of classes
ISB may change class times and/or instructors under certain circumstances or if absolutely needed. Please watch for postings on the bulletin board and website.
Please note that classes are not necessarily canceled when academic schools are closed due to inclement weather. Since most dance classes are scheduled during the late afternoon and evening hours on weekdays, inclement weather in the morning may not indicate that classes will be canceled. In the event that classes are canceled, the closing will be announced on TV Channel 13, the email distribution list and the website. Once classes resume, make-up sessions will be scheduled, most often during the ISB make-up week.
notice of nondiscrimination policy
