In May 2017, the Indianapolis School of Ballet took a monumental step towards establishing Indiana’s capital as one of America’s fastest growing artistic and cultural centers with the formation of the Indianapolis Ballet – the first professional resident ballet company to be based in the Circle City in over a decade.
The dream of founding artistic director Victoria Lyras became reality in January 2018 with the first rehearsals for company and apprentice dancers, and continued a month later with a sold-out weekend residency at The Toby at Newfields that featured three stunning performances anchored by The Firebird.
After a successful short debut season in the spring of 2018, Indianapolis Ballet continued to develop by offering its first full artistic season of bold programming across 2018-19.
