Allison Smith

Apprentice

Originally from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Allison Smith began her dance journey at the age of three. In 2009, she started training at The Washington School of Ballet, where she developed a deep love for ballet, as well as Contemporary and Jazz. In 2019, she was invited to join The Washington Ballet’s Professional Training Program under the direction of Xiomara Reyes and Rinat Imaev. During her time in the program, she performed notable classical works such as Le Corsaire, Swan Lake, and Paquita. She also appeared alongside the company in Septime Webre’s D.C.-themed Nutcracker.

In 2021, Allison graduated from high school and continued her training at Indiana University Ballet Theater (IU). Some of her favorite repertoire performed at IU included George Balanchine’s Serenade and Valse Fantaisie, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Shibuya Blues, Mark Morris’s Sandpaper Ballet, and Michael Vernon’s The Nutcracker. She graduated in 2025 with High Distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Music with a major in Ballet and an Outside Field in Arts Management.

Allison is thrilled to begin her professional career with Indianapolis Ballet for the 2025–26 season.
