Level 3 Ballet with Pre-Pointe

Coleen Szulc received her early dance training in her hometown of Flemington, New Jersey. After graduating high school as a junior, she moved to Philadelphia to continue her training at The Rock School for Dance Education under Bo and Stefanie Spassoff, Natalya Zieger, Mariaelena Ruiz, Rebekah von Rathonyi, Servy Gallardo, and Eva Szabo. Coleen then trained at Princeton Ballet School/American Repertory Ballet, where she performed with the professional company under Graham Lustig. She also spent multiple summers on scholarship with Orlando Ballet where she trained with Peter Stark, Kim Marsh, Olivier Munoz and Robert Hill.

Wanting a college education, Coleen moved to Indiana to attend Butler University. She graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Dance Pedagogy and high honors in 2013. She performed many roles with Butler Ballet including Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Peasant Pas in Giselle, and Dawn and Prayer in Coppélia. She studied under Marek Cholewa, Derek Reid, Rosanna Ruffo, Tong Wang, Cynthia Pratt, Susan McGuire, Michael Johnson, and Stefan Laurent. She completed her senior teaching practicum with Laura Byram and Roberta Wong. Coleen also had the opportunity to train and perform abroad in Poland and Russia with Butler Ballet. 

After discovering her passion for teaching while at Butler, Coleen joined the faculty of ISB upon graduation. She has experience teaching all ages from Creative Movement to the Open Division. Coleen served as the Director of Outreach/Student Services and the Children’s Ballet Mistress for multiple years, and was part of the founding team of Indy Ballet Classrooms. She has had the honor of dancing in many ISB/IB productions, with her favorites being The Nutcracker, Carnival of the Animals, and an excerpt of George Balanchine's Serenade. Coleen has also taught on the north side and has coached variations for YAGP, and is a former barre fitness instructor. She currently lives in Fishers with her husband Casey and daughter Ellie.
